Youngsters enjoyed a fun-filled day of sports, arts and crafts activities at Gedney Drove End.

The annual Activate! events are back for this summer where young people aged between eight and 19 are given the chance to try a range of activities including arts and crafts, rowing machines, wall climbing, a free bound assault course, garden games and making loom bands.

The events have been running since 2013 and are run in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council Youth services and South Holland District Council.

The first of the three sessions was from 11am to 3pm at the Walker Memorial park on Wednesday.

Families were welcome to bring a picnic with them but there were also drinks and snacks sold from Gedney Drove End Youth Club tuck shop by volunteers and any proceeds from this go towards the youth club.

Coun Gary Taylor said: “The Activate! events always prove popular and we expect that to continue.”

Activate! was organised by South Holland District Council’s community development team who were present on Wednesday to ensure it all ran smoothly.

The next two are on August 12 at the Teen Park in Donington and August 19 at Memorial Park, Sutton Bridge, both from 11am to 3pm.
