Recent success by European golfers meant that a summer coaching session for youngsters at Gedney Hill Golf Club was a must-not-miss event.
Part of South Holland District Council’s Summer Fun programme, the coaching by club professional Kerr Page brought a group of eager children to the driving range trying to make their mark. Kerr was hopeful that a few future Rory McIlroys and women’s tour champions emerged from the one-hour session held at the golf club throughout the summer. He said: “We got them to learn a few golf skills like putting, chipping and some time on how to swing which was very successful. “It was mainly about enjoyment, not doing anything technical but making the game of golf fun and interesting for the children. “There was one young lady who has started having individual lessons, but it’s such a young age to know whether they are going to do anything in the future in terms of playing golf professionally.”
