The first students to complete the Level 3 Award in Education and Training at Foundations of Whaplode received their certificates last week.
Among the students was Jutta Whitworth-Beihler, accounts manager for Baytree Nurseries Limited in Weston.
Jutta, who is also accountacy tutor at Anglia Professional Training, said: “I didn’t appreciate there was so much to being a teacher.”
She added that having two enthusiastic tutors on the course encouraged her learning.
Also on the course was Lynn Exley, who runs Wellbeing for Living from Moulton.
As a result of the course, she has changed the way she works and takes more time to assess, plan and evaluate.
Lynn feels she is now more organised and, as a result, gets better results.
The other successful student was Sarah Gray, who works for Anglia Professional Training Ltd in Wisbech.
She says she found the practical micro teach sessions valuable, and added: “It has given me confidence in my teaching and made me much more aware of my students’ and learners’ needs.”
An entry level teaching and training course, focusing on teaching in adult education, the course includes theory and practice, how to write lesson plans, evaluate lessons, assess learners and use a variety of techniques to deliver training effectively.
Students completing the course can continue their studies at higher levels and gain qualified teacher status.
Foundations is running further education and training courses in the autumn.
