South Holland may be the produce growing capital of the country, but two local farmers are proving there is a place in the market for the district’s livestock.

Tessa Bunstance has had another successful year at Lincolnshire Show, winning two firsts, four thirds and two fifths with the Texel sheep she rears at her home in Moulton.

The 21-year-old, who is following in the family tradition, said: “I’m really pleased. I never expected to get this far.”

Tommy Charlton, of Moulton Chapel, was celebrating winning Champion Lincoln Red Female.

Mr Charlton, of T H Charlton and Son, had taken three heffers and a bull to the show.

He collected a collection of rosettes, including for his heffer Trixie, who came second, and bull Tommy, who was fourth in the bull born before March last year class.

He said: “I enjoy coming here every year. As well as winning, it’s a good show and there’s a happy crowd. Next we are off to the shows in Norfolk and Yorkshire.”
