Students learned more about a charity their fundraising efforts will help support.

Youngsters in Bronte house at Peele Community College, Long Sutton, have chosen to support the When Your Wish Upon A Star charity and representative Pat Wright recently went along to the school to talk to them about the important work it does with children between the ages of two and 16 who are living with a life threatening illness.

The charity grants the children wishes – whether it is a trip to swim with dolphins in Florida or a chance to meet their favourite celebrity.

Pat also told them about the highlight of the charity’s year – a trip to Lapland for hundreds of children to meet Santa.

Vice captain of Bronte, Elli Griggs said the talk had given them all a real insight into what other children’s lives are like.

She said: “It had really motivated us to start fundraising for such a worthwhile cause.”
