A team from the Sir John Gleed School in Spalding has qualified for the prestigious northern finals of the Be Your Best Rock Challenge.

Events have been taking place across the United Kingdom in the 2016 Dream Big Shine Bright Tour and up to 20,000 young people from over 310 schools have been involved.

The Gleed is one of four schools from Lincolnshire through to the northern finals.

On Saturday, July 2 they will compete at Grimsby Auditorium against teams from from Aberdeenshire, north east Lincolnshire, East Riding of Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Cumbria, West Yorkshire and Angus.

The Rock Challenge sees teams prepare an eight minute performance to showcase an array of skills in dance, drama and design. Set to a theme of their choice, each school’s performance is completely original.

The Gleed team has spent the last few weeks finalising its performance since its regional heat and will spend the day at the venue
rehearsing, watching and supporting all the other schools before competing in a spectacular evening show.

Last year the northern finals attracted 2,410 audience members, with tickets for 2016 still available to purchase through box office on 0844 871 3016.
