Kev and Ros from Heart FM returned to host the event to start the countdown to Christmas in Spalding.

Brendan said: “My wife has affiliations with Spalding through her family, so it’s nice to be back. It’s been a lovely crowdand I’ve met some very nice people.”

Up and coming pop star Chantelle Lee and talented choir Peterborough Sings performed festive songs to get everyone in the Christmas spirit.

The big red button was pressed by the Strictly star at 7.30pm which promptly lit up the shopping outlet and set off a short firework display.

Retail director, Simon Stone, said: “Over 4,000 people attended in total to either see the celebrities or take advantage of the shops being open until 9pm.

“We turn on our lights so early because October half term is our busiest week of the year and a lot of people start their Christmas shopping around this time of year.”

After the switch-on, Brendan did a ‘meet and greet’ where he met hundreds of excited fans individually for photos and autographs.

Springfields is holding another event this week on Thursday for Bonfire Night. The Music and Firework show will contain a musical journey through the ages through the decades with an amazing fireworks and light show.
