STREET DRINKING: Why leave it so late to deal with issues?

Have your say

Regarding the issues of anti-social behaviour, I feel now is the time that our authorities pushed for a full ban on street drinking.

This comes on a day when Grimsby announces a tough crackdown, Boston have already done the same so why oh why are we leaving it so late to actually deal with an issue that is forever increasing.

Why oh why are we leaving it so late to actually deal with an issue that is forever increasing?

I myself live just off the High Street in this town, and I feel it’s now time to stop this anti-social issue which as I have found leads to an increase of alcohol cans and bottles dumped and scattered around this beautiful riverside.

Every day I witness these drinkers... just this morning at 8am one was asleep on the bench by the riverside completely oblivious of all around him. How is this acceptable? The evenings and into the night are even worse. Why cannot people drink sensibly and in licensed premises?

There doesn’t seem to be any interest from our authorities to tackle this issue, which is disheartening to say the least. Having read several letters submitted to your paper over the last few years I now feel I need to do my bit to help support a change for the better.
