Take a trip back to the ’60s with A Slice of Saturday Night at South Holland Centre in Spalding on Friday (7.30pm).
Inspirational Productions – a cast of ten young people who are studying a degree level programme at Stamford School of Arts – will have you spinning back to the swinging sixties with their fabulous musical.
The story revolves around seven teenagers who dance, eye each other up and flirt on a Saturday night at popular Club A Go Go.
Sue is going out with Gary, but he flirts with Penny and the other girls at every opportunity. Sharon and Rick like each other but are too shy to tell each other. Meanwhile Eddie tries everything over the course of the night to get “frigid” Bridget to get personal with him by closing time, with very little success. All this is watched by the owner of the club, ageing rocker Eric ‘Rubber-legs’ De Vene, who lends an ear to the young people as they navigate the rituals of teenage fashion, music, sexual mores and relationships.
The cast are all from the region and are experienced performers, having starred in a number of musicals, including Spring Awakening, Flashdance and Little Women.
Tickets are £14 and £12 concessions from the box office.
