Shipmate Brian Payne has spoken of his pride in being a standard bearer at a ceremony in Paris (pictured).

The Spalding man and his partner, shipmate Jane Kingsnorth, were honoured to carry the Royal Naval Association’s No9 Area Standard along the Champs Elysees to the The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Arc de Triomphe.

The event was organised by the Royal British Legion for the 90th anniversary of The Great Pilgrim of 1921.

Mr Payne said he felt so proud knowing that he was the only RNA Standard representing the association and Great Britain.
