The daffodil is at the heart of a show for amateurs and professionals in Spalding this weekend.
It is the 107th Lincolnshire Daffodil Society Spring Flower and Gardening Show, held in association with Springfields Horticultural Society.
It’s at Springfields Events Centre on Saturday and Sunday (10am to 4pm).
The show celebrates the area’s daffodil flower and bulb growing heritage and is a mix of amateur daffodil growing competitions, flower displays, plant and flower stalls and other gardening sundries. The competition section includes further classes for digital photo and painting entries in a range of age categories. Other exhibits and displays will include a landscaped show garden entered by the gardening team from Springfields Festival Gardens, and a display of bowls of daffodils from Chelsea gold winner Walkers Bulbs. Many schools in the area received free daffodils to grow so that children and students can enter some of the competition categories.
Entry is £1 for adults, accompanied under 16s free.
Roger Taylor (left), of Taylors Bulbs, is due to receive the prestigious Carlo Naef Trophy at the show in recognition of his long-term involvement in the bulb industry.
