YOUNG rugby players can look forward to a bright future after Spalding Rugby Football Club Mini-Youth section secured a three-year sponsorship deal worth £15,000.
After securing deals with two local firms – Crowland Cranes and QV Foods – worth £7,500, the club then made a successful bid to sportsmatch to have the sponsorship matchfunded.
The money will enable the Mini-Youth section to deliver its Sustainable Rugby Development programme in Spalding and surrounding area.
The programme will see the mini-youth section develop tag rugby sessions with local schools, provide new equipment for the club and each age group at the club will be able to attend a training session run by Leicester Tigers during this season.
Jeremy Chew, Mini-Youth section coach and co-ordinator, said: “England may be out of the world cup in New Zealand but we are busy encouraging new players to join our club and take up rugby as we look to develop the sport locally ahead of the next world cup that will be hosted in England in 2015.”
