STAFF from a Spalding special school swam their hearts out in a fundraising challenge.

Nine teachers and teaching assistants from The Priory School took part in the Great London Swim.

Swimmer Sarah O’Brien said: “We were encouraged to enter by our PE teacher Chris Allen and, apart from him, it was the first public swimming event any of us had taken part in.

“We each swam a mile in the Royal Victoria Dock and it was a fantastic day with an amazing atmosphere.

“The water was like slipping into a warm bath.

“We don’t know how much we have raised yet as we are still collecting in sponsorship money.”
