SPALDING Services and Social Club has undergone a £16,000 facelift to the delight of regulars.
A new bar has been put in at the club in High Street where staff have served customers since 1965.
The work was carried out over two weeks by workmen from ABR Coordinated Construction of Pinchbeck and the new bar’s opening night was made even more special by a visit from Leicestershire Working Men’s Club and Institute Union (WMCIU) branch president Eric Johnson.
Club chairman Maurice Cox said: “We had the old bar for nearly 40 years but it looked so untidy and not very nice.
“The main bar was closed while the work was going on and the men from ABR worked long hours to put the new one in.
“It’s made a lot of difference to the club and we seem to be busier now than we were before.
“People think it’s brilliant and I’ve spoken to quite a few of our regulars who’ve said how nice it looks.”
