Spalding’s bloomin’ best are rewarded

The bloomin’ best in town were honoured on Saturday as prizes were given out in Spalding’s Best Front Garden and Best Flower-Decorated Premises competitions.

Winners of the Best Front Garden competition were Mandy and Steven Clarke, of Ambleside Drive, with runners-up Natalie and Carl Knight, of Livingstone Drive, and third place Charles Larkin, of Severn Road.

The winner received the Best Front Garden Trophy, a certificate and £50 worth of vouchers from main sponsor Birchgrove Garden Centre, with second placegetting a certificate and £25 in Birchgrove vouchers and third place £10 of vouchers and a certificate. Birchgrove also gave a £5 voucher to all those entries not in the first three this year.

The Best Flower-Decorated Premises competition for pubs, restaurants and hotels went to the Punchbowl in New Road, with the Moorings in Commercial Road runners-up. The Punchbowl won a £50 Birchgrove voucher and a framed photograph of the pub and Guardian reader Mr W Parker won a £20 Birchgrove voucher from a prize draw of all those who nominated in the competition.
