2016 sees the Queen’s 90th birthday which she will celebrate on April 21, 2016, and her official commemorations for this historic event will be centred around June, the month in which her official birthday is celebrated.
Tulip Radio is encouraging everyone to create a canvas-based montage featuring one of the 64 years of her reign. Free canvases are available from us in The Crescent, all you have to do is collect your canvas, pick any year of your choice, use your artistic abilities to create a montage which could feature drawings, painting, embroidery, knitting, photographs or cut outs from books and magazines. You could even make it a joint family affair.
The winning entry will be judged by John Hayes MP and his wife Susan and will be presented to her Majesty the Queen on behalf of everyone in South Holland. The winner will receive a trophy at the Pride of South Holland Awards.
We are also looking for nominations for the South Holland Pride awards in the following categories: Caring Neighbour, Service with a Smile, Young Achiever, Senior Citizen, Charity Worker, Community Hero, Volunteer of the Year and Lifetime Achievement. The awards ceremony will be held at South Holland Centre on Saturday, June 18 at 3pm. You can download a nomination form from our website www.tulip-radio.co.uk which you will need to fill in and return to us by May 31. Alternatively you can collect a form from us here in The Crescent.
This will be the second year of the awards which were well received last year, when Anthony Cotton from Coronation Street was at the ceremony. Look at last year’s pictures at www.tulip-radio.co.uk
