Spalding firefighters are thanking the local community for their generosity after raising nearly £600 at a recent charity car wash.
Crews lathered up last month to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity, which provides life-enhancing support for serving and retired firefighters and their families.
Despite the poor weather, many members of the local community turned out to show their support to the crew and gave generously to help raise almost twice as much as money as last time.
Louisa Thornton, development crew manager at Spalding Fire Station, said: “I’d like to say thank you to the local Halfords store, which kindly donated our sponges and to everyone who turned up on the day to get their car washed.
“We raised a massive amount of money and I really can’t thank everyone enough for helping to make the day such a success.
“All the money will go to The Fire Fighters Charity, an organisation that is very close to all our hearts in the fire service.
“We all know someone who has been in need of its help and know the difference it makes.”
