OLYMPIC mascots Wenlock and Mandeville helped mark 500 days until the games begin by visiting four schools across south Lincolnshire.

The countdown to London 2012 began on Tuesday – when a clock in Trafalgar Square was set off and tickets for games went on sale – and schools across this district marked the milestone date with a series of sporty events.

Spalding’s Parish Day and St John’s primary schools, along with Weston Hills and Deeping St James primary schools, were graced by a visit from the two mascots, who came to the county for the first time.
