How we reported the Great War
Francis McLaren MP for the Spalding Division was gazetted to a Leuitenancy in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.
He spent several days amongst his constituents, taking part in a recruiting campaign and, when appearing at Spalding Corn Exchange in his uniform, was given great applause.
He was the youngest Liberal member of the House of Commons at the time.
He is pictured in his uniform before leaving for the train to London.
