A Spalding Grammar School student has secured a place to study music at the Birmingham Conservatoire. Year 13 pupil Luke Pallister has gained two scholarships to study at the international conservatoire.

Spalding Grammar School spokesperson Chelsea Turnell said: “He went to Birmingham for the audition and they offered him a place at the Conservatoire in the middle of his audition, which is virtually unheard of, and took him totally by surprise.”
He was offered the scholarship of £2,500 for each of the four years, and also won a new scholarship which will give him £500 to pursue his musical studies. Luke intends to use it for lessons from the Conservatoire’s cornet tutor before starting in September.
