Spalding’s newest visitor attraction is forging far more than metals, according to judges in the Lincolnshire Heritage Awards.

Chain Bridge Forge, a re-created blacksmith’s workshop in High Street, is also making great strides in engaging the wider community in the project.

Judges praised the “substantial contribution within the community” the forge made.

The forge received a Special Award for outstanding community engagement presented by judge David Sleight (second from left). With him are (from left) chairman of Friends of Chain Bridge Forge Geoff Taylor, one of the directors Keith Seaton and blacksmith Chris Hammond.
