SPALDING and District Flower Lovers’ Club began its golden anniversary year celebrations with a cocktail party at Moulton Mill on Friday.

Founder member Jean Gotobed – the only one who has been a member of the club continuously since it opened – cut the celebration cake, which was made by Pat Beba.

A couple of other members joined in 1961 but have not held continuous membership.

Appropriately 50 members and guests attended, including Sue Brinton, second vice chairman of the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies, who proposed the toast. Group chairman Pat Ashley replied on behalf of the club.
