It’s going to be hot work but there won’t be a flame in sight when firefighters take over Sainsbury’s car park in Spalding to hose down vehicles for charity.

Fire men and women are taking part in The National Car Wash 2014, a fundraising event for The Fire Fighters Charity.

Between 10am and 4pm, Spalding’s firefighters will be offering car washes for donations, as well as handing out fire safety information.

The Fire Fighters Charity is dedicated to supporting the fire and rescue community and their families.

Kev Baker, a Spalding firefighter with 29 years in the service, spent time at Penrith, the charity’s latest and most state-of-the-art rehabilitation centre, after he began experiencing problems with his lower spine.

Mr Baker said: “When you are injured or unable to work, it can be very isolating. Places like Penrith not only rehabilitate you physically, but remind you that you are not alone.”
