The prime-time television given to cycling during the Olympics and Tour de France did the sport a lot of good.
Tim Bryett says that when about 50 members went out on an 85th anniversary ride last year people lined streets to clap as they passed – and even traffic was giving way, something Tim believes wouldn’t have happened just a few years ago.
The club too has grown, from 15-30 at one time to 120 members today.
Spalding Cycling Club, which runs Go Ride in Spalding, organises a lot of activities that may be of interest to cyclists.
There are weekend rides, the Saturday one ideal for beginners and a Sunday one of varying distance.
The club also organises big events throughout the year, such as a hill time trial, a non-competitive mass participation ride and grasstrack race.
The club also hosts road races on closed circuits and goes away to various cycling festivals.
