IMPROVEMENT works to a Spalding bridge are expected to take ten weeks, starting on Monday.
A road closure will be in place while the work on Cuckoo Bridge on Horseshoe Road takes place.
David Walton, client services manager for Lincolnshire County Council, said: “We need to strengthen the parapet either side of the bridge to help protect people who are driving over it.
“This involves replacing the steel post and railings with a more modern steel equivalent, which will be much more robust.
“We’re also making the most of the opportunity to replace the waterproofing on the bridge, as well as repair some of the damaged concrete.
“Do avoid the area if you can, as we complete this work as quickly and safely as possible.”
Traffic will be diverted via Horseshoe Road, North Drove and East Road.
