A sponsored charity bowls event at Spalding’s Castle Sports Complex raised £500 for The British Heart Foundation.

The event, organised by Spalding Indoor Bowls, saw 60 keen bowlers roll it out for the top spot.

Each participant donated £4 to take part and a collection also raised £240.

Dave Marriott, Geoff Holland and Derek Groves were named winners with Di Barford, Ian Stafford, and Eddie Spours following closely in second place.

Richard Johnson, contract manager of Castle Sports Complex, said: “We were very happy to waive green fees for this unique charity event.

“The British Heart Foundation is a fantastic charity and we were keen to be involved from the start.

“The amount of money raised was a great achievement, and we are proud to have been able to support this event.”
