Site clearance has continued today (Monday) following the demolition of a part of Spalding’s railway history, the Winsover Road signal box.

Winsover Road was closed from 10pm on Saturday to 9am on Sunday to allow excavators on site to demolish the building.

Work continued today on clearing up rubble from the demolished signal box in Winsover Road. ANL-150203-155535001

Workmen were still on site late this afternoon using a digger to scoop up the remnants of the rubble and load it onto a lorry as traffic passed by the site and schoolchildren made their way home with their parents.

The signal box was not listed as being of architectural importance, which meant Network Rail could demolish it without seeking planning consent.
