A post woman is swapping delivering letters for delivering the performance of a lifetime when she appears on TV with her dancing dog on Boxing Day.
Lucy and Indie will be one of five pairs battling it out for the Best in Show title on ITV’s That Dog Can Dance, an hour-long special hosted by Christine Bleakley and judged by Britain’s Got Talent stars Ashleigh and Pudsey, Sharon Osbourne and comedian Bill Bailey.
Lucy works part time as a post woman in Billingborough in order to spend as much time as possible with Indie.
The pair regularly compete at advanced level and Lucy dreams of one day getting to the finals of Crufts.
She describes Indie as a “real schmoozer”, who is active, enthusiastic and a complete flirt.
Before Lucy got Indie, she says she struggled with self-confidence and was extremely shy.
She said: “If it wasn’t for Indie I would never have dreamed of entering a TV competition but because Indie loves it I knew I had to.”
The Border Collie’s favourite trick is to vault off Lucy’s body and lean sideways on two legs.
Lucy added: “But her favourite trick is helping around the house and loading the washing machine before shutting the door.”
The programme will be shown from 9pm.
Nigel Hall, global head of television for production company Syco, said: “We all fell in love with Asleigh and Pudsey on Britain’s Got Talent – and there are more dancing dogs out there that we can’t wait to show the audience.
“This show just proves we are a nation of dog lovers.”
