Around 15 town centre shops are dressing their windows hoping to have something to celebrate after the final Spalding Flower Parade.

The Lincolnshire Free Press in conjunction with South Holland District Council economic development team launched a competition to encourage businesses to put their creative skills to good use and to decorate their windows on the same theme as the parade next Saturday – Let’s Celebrate.

The entries flowed in and the windows will soon all be dressed awaiting our photographer to take the pictures which readers will then be asked to judge.

We will run all the pictures in the paper next week, so look out for your favourite and get voting.

Trophies, which have been donated by Spalding Arts and Crafts Society and used to be presented annually to best dressed window winners, will be presented for first and second place.

There will also be cash prizes of £100, £50 and £25 for the first, second and third placed shops for a charity of their choice.

Nigel Burch, senior economic development officer, said: “We are pleased with the number of entries and I am looking forward to seeing the creative designs which will brighten the town for the last flower parade.”
