People using a Sutton Bridge store have boosted the coffers of St Matthew’s Church by just over £1,000.
The church was the chosen good cause for shoppers at the Co-op store on Bridge Road over the last three months when a donation has gone into a cash pot for St Matthew’s every time a customer has used one of the store’s dividend cards.
Store manager Sylvia Wilkinson said: “All Lincolnshire Co-op stores run a scheme called Community Champions where the money raised from Co-op members using their dividend cards are given to a charity or good cause chosen by each store from within its trading area.
“We raised about £1,027 for St Matthew’s Church, Sutton Bridge, and its vicar Rev David Oxtoby, was quite surprised and quite pleased with the donation.”
Mr Oxtoby said: “St Matthew’s is delighted to receive the generous support of the Co-op and general community through their wonderful fund-raising initiative, Community Champions.
“We appreciate the gift of just over £1,000 which will be carefully used to help develop St Matthew’s in its ongoing community outreach.”
