This week’s rain may have stopped you grabbing your bikini for a day at the beach, but according to research now is when most of us plan to get in shape for summer.
According to research, 25 per cent of women start a diet after a bank holiday weekend, 86 per cent of diets fail within a week and 72 per cent of dieters regain their weight over a five-year period.
Here are a few tips from Tracey Vowels, of Spalding’s Fitness Company, to help you succeed:
Be sure to eat breakfast, this will fire up your metabolism to burn calories for the rest of the day. Make carbs the smallest portion on your plate. Cut down on huge portions of white pasta, rice, potatoes and bread. Eat more protein, it keeps you fuller for longer. Cut back on alcohol it has calories too. Exercise for 30 minutes a day it releases ‘happy hormones’ making you feel great whilst on your weight loss journey.
Think of calories as money – if you over spend one day, you have to cut back to make the bank balance!
