Have your say

It was Danny La Rue or possibly Chicken Vindaloo for around 50 senior citizens who were not only treated to afternoon Christmas tea but a game of bingo at The Deepings School last Monday.

A superb tea was provided by the school’s catering team, together with a glass of sherry or two.

Hopefully the tipple didn’t spoil concentration during the bingo, professionally ‘called’ by Sixth form students Ryan, Ollie and Hunaida.

Students kindly volunteered to help with the service and events manager Linda Taylor said they really enjoyed talking to the guests.

She added: “Some of our catering students also made a fantastic selection of fairy cakes, mince pies and shortbread biscuits, which were raffled off after tea.”

Peter Hubbard from Age UK said: “On behalf of everyone we would like to thank headteacher Richard Trow and his staff and the students for arranging the afternoon.

“We really appreciate your hospitality and had a lovely time.” • Pictured are guests and Deepings School students and staff, including Richard Trow (back left).
