County firefighters will down tools on Saturday as the Fire Brigades Union holds its second national strike between 6.30pm and 11.30pm.

Lincolnshire fire chief Dave Ramscar says the move “will impact on our ability to deliver business as usual”, but he’s confident the fire and rescue service will still be able to respond to 999 calls.

Mr Ramscar is urging members of the public to take care and to seek fire safety advice on www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/lfr or on Twitter @lincsfirerescue

Firefighters are taking industrial action because they want fair pensions and say thousands of firefighters could face the sack simply because they are getting older and no longer meet fitness standards.
