Children at a Spalding primary school got into the spirt of Christmas giving by creating 65 shoeboxes of gifts for those less well off than themselves.

St John’s Primary School youngsters were all asked to donate small items such as pens, writing pads, toys, toothbrushes, hairbrushes and hair accessories to fill up the boxes for Operation Christmas Child – a charity which sends the gifts to poorer children around the world.

The pupils were then involved in filling the boxes and wrapping them.

Sue Smith said it was something the school was pleased to be involved with as it fitted in with its ethos of helping others.
