Last Friday the first School Choir Competition Prize Giving Finale took place at St John the Baptist Church, Spalding.

This was a great opportunity for all the schools to repeat the Christmas song first performed at the Spalding Christmas lights switch on event.

Well done to all the schools involved and the more than 345 people who came and made it a real success. You sang your hearts out and everyone enjoyed watching you perform; you should all be very proud of the work you produced. Congratulations to the winning school, Ayscoughfee Hall.

Each school was awarded £100 for taking part, supported and presented by Pat Baxter from Bakkavor, and £500 worth of High Street store vouchers presented by Kirstie and Justin from Majestic Bingo. A free game of bowling for the winning school was presented by Dave Charlesworth who came with Alley Catz to entertain the children, and books and sweets from Springfield Outlet Shopping & Festival Gardens.

Thank you to Paul Watkins-Grove & Richard Lawrence from EMG; to the teachers, families and friends; to sponors; the Royal Naval Association; MP John Hayes; South Holland District Council; Spalding Chamber of Commerce; and the Rev Paul Whitely from St John’s.

• Next year’s date is Friday, December 2.
