A SCHEME which helps people attend medical appointments is looking for more volunteers.
South Holland Voluntary Car Service has launched an appeal to find drivers in five areas of the district as more and more people turn to it for help.
Cowbit has just joined the scheme, meaning more drivers are needed there, as well as Spalding, Moulton, Whaplode and Weston.
Co-ordinator Paul Clark said: “We mainly take those who do not have their own transport to their doctor’s or hospital appointments and then wait for them and take them home again.
“A lot of people see it as a way of avoiding the hassle of having to park at the hospital.
“Clients pay 35p a mile and our volunteer drivers receive 45p a mile to cover their expenses.
“The hours are very flexible and we are glad of any help anyone can offer us.”
Anyone who has a few hours to spare and would like to volunteer as a driver can contact Mr Clark on 01406 365303.
