SANTA’S sleigh has been spruced up this Christmas as the East Elloe Lions Club unwrapped an early present from Lincolnshire Co-operative.
The £1,000 Community Dividend grant has covered the cost of restoring their festive sleigh which was built more than 25 years ago.
The sled is used each Christmas by the group to raise money to help members of the community in the surrounding villages as well as different causes nationally and internationally.
Lions member Piers Whiting said they have rebuilt the entire sleigh thanks to the grant.
“We’ve got new reindeer, new lights, new tyres, the wooden sides have been replaced and it’s all had a fresh coat of paint,” he said.
A new sound system and generator for the sleigh has added yet more merry cheer this season.
Piers said: “Before we had to rely on other people to borrow generators but now we’ve got our own one it’s great, we can have lots of music and it’s a lot better.”
