SEVENTEEN Santas set off on a Spalding fun run after it received an 11th hour boost.
Organiser Gordon Kirk had feared the run would be a bit of a damp squib after only four people signed up to take part in the weeks running up to the big day.
But after a story in the Spalding Guardian last week, the total signed up went to nine, with another eight turning up on the day.
Mr Kirk said: “It was still disappointing but at least the event went ahead and raised some money for good causes.
“I just wish some of the local schools had got involved, but those who did take part enjoyed it and I think it’s a good way of getting in the Christmas spirit.”
Mr Kirk doesn’t know how much sponsorship will have been raised, but all the cash will be shared between Lincolnshire Integrated Emergency Service (LIVES) and another yet-unnamed charity.
