A free Christmas party on Saturday at The Curlew Centre, Sutton Bridge, saw the village gain a new prince and princess.

Seven to 11-year-olds took part in a competition and the winners were William Stevenson and Mollie Bracie.

The youngsters were crowned by Karen Johnson, from South Holland District Council, and Spalding Flower Queen Amy Harrison.

The competition was one of the big highlights of a fun-filled party with attractions including a digital disco run by PartyAngelz, games, glitter tattoes and hair-braiding.

Santa Claus attended and presented every child with a free Cadbury’s selection box.

The party was organised by the Curlew Centre’s managing committee, including its hard working chairman and secretary, Alan and Helen Barber.

Sophie Currell said the organisers’ work was praised on the day by the families who attended.

She said: “They were all saying ‘this is really brilliant’.”
