ROAD SAFETY: Another tragedy

The aftermath of the recent fatal accident at Crowland.
The aftermath of the recent fatal accident at Crowland.

Another tragedy and another life lost on the A16/B1166 road and junction.

I have written numerous letters to you regarding the death-trap of the A16 road and a lack of a roundabout on the Old Radar Corner.

Is this not now time something is done about this road before it claims more lives?

I do understand that the road is not completely to blame; a lot of it must go onto the drivers who not only put their lives at risk but others’ too.

When the road was first opened I spoke with MP Mr John Hayes regarding the safety and the layout of the road and the junction.

The road has been open for less than five years, it is now no longer fit for use or purpose with the amount of heavy goods now using it.

The LCC Highways Department do not seem to be listening or paying any attention to the concerns of the local people regarding the safety and condition of the road. The road is falling apart, pot holes, sinking, it’s like a rollercoaster ride. One reason they gave for no roundabout on the A16/B1166 junction, believe this or not, it would slow the traffic down! I’ve noticed it’s been decorated recently in red and white. What use is that for oncoming traffic traveling at a very high speed as some motorists do?

As stated many times before, someone, somewhere must be held responsible.

The time has come for Mr Hayes to stand up and be counted. John: forget opening garden fetes, turning up at any form of photo call, wind farms, etc. Use some of your very valuable time in putting this killer road top of your agenda before we have more fatal casualties. What is more important: money or life?
