Fire crews were called to Crowland on Sunday morning after tiles and guttering fell from the roof of The Manor House in East Street.
The road was sealed off – because of the danger to passers-by – and remained closed yesterday.
Crowland resident Philip Green said debris began falling during the high winds on Saturday night.
The grade II listed house is Crowland’s oldest building after the abbey and dates from the 17th century.
Fire crews were working alongside a building surveyor from South Holland District Council on Sunday morning.
East Street resident Peter Bird said he understands the usually busy road will remain shut subject to further investigations.
Parish council clerk Brenda Stanojevic said yesterday the road closure was causing major disruption to traffic.
