RIVERBANK Studios in Spalding is doing its bit to overcome a low rate of involvement in the arts in South Holland with an exhibition that might act as encouragement to budding painters.

A total of 16 artists who go to the Riverbank Thursday Group (RTG) at the art studio have an exhibition of paintings and drawings on display at Ayscoughfee Hall Museum in the town until March 28 (Wednesday to Sunday, 10.30am to 4pm).

Helen Kempton, a member of the group, says: “At the moment the Arts Council is trying to encourage people to take up art because we have a low percentage of people in this area getting involved in art activities, visual as well as performing arts.”

Between six and 20 artists turn up for Thursday classes.
