CHARITY bikers Maria Nel and boyfriend Lee Chaplin take to the roads on a Kawasaki Ninja next month to visit 15 Sue Ryder shops in Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk in a single day.

Maria (19), assistant manager at the charity’s shop in Francis Street, Spalding, is keeping quiet about the overall distance they will travel because customers are being invited to guess the mileage with a chance to win a £20 voucher.

The ride is part of the annual Ride for Ryder charity push, a national event which last year raised £15,000.

Maria said: “We are appealing for local people to get involved and help us raise as much money as we can for Sue Ryder.

“By supporting us in this way, local people can help our doctors, nurses and healthcare colleagues continue to make a real difference to the lives of thousands of people each year.”

The charity is appealing for more people to join Ride for Ryder with events such as taking the bus to work for a week and donating unused petrol money to the cause, taking on a sponsored bike ride or by putting on a skateboard event and charging an entrance fee.

Maria, who lives in Sutton Bridge, will be the pillion passenger as car mechanic Steve, from Long Sutton, steers them around the charity shops on August 13.

l Anyone who wishes to sponsor them can do so at the shop. More details on 0845 0501953 or www.sueryder.co.uk
