Parking problems outside homes and a children’s nursery in Fleet have been called an “accident waiting to happen” by an angry resident.

David Murphy (63) of Branches Lane wants police and county highways officials to stop staff at Fleet Road Garage who he claims are parking its cars on the road, raising fears of a serious accident happening.

Mr Murphy claimed that police had so far ignored his complaints about the road which have been supported by staff from Twigglets Day Nursery which opened on Branches Lane about 15 years ago.

“Some of the people who work at the garage are parking its cars along the road and the problem is getting worse and worse,” Mr Murphy said.

“Any drivers turning off the main Fleet Road into Branches Lane will just see a line of parked cars backing out of the garage and in my view it’s an accdent waiting to happen.

“For the past two months, I’ve warned people at the garage to stop parking and reversing its cars onto Branches Lane because it’s highly dangerous and I’ve asked the police to tell them as well but they’ve just ignored me.

“I want to see Branches Lane used safely and not have the emergency services called out to an accident.”
