FIVE charities will be having a happier Christmas thanks to Santa’s “real” reindeer.

The five reindeer have been resident at Weston’s Baytree Nurseries Garden Centre since November 5 and each week cash raised form the sale of carrots to feed Santa’s four-legged friends has been donated to a different charity.

The charities that have benefited are Children In Need (£240), The Kidney Foundation (£250), Macmillan Cancer Support (£400), Lincs Ark (£160) and the Parkinson’s Society, the total for which will be announced on Christmas Eve.

The carrots were donated by Robin Hancox of Lincolnshire Farm Produce.

The reindeer have been a regular festive fixture at the garden centre for the past 20 years.
