PUPILS at Monkshouse Primary School in Spalding have been studying India, including Diwali – a religious festival of lights.
But their studies really came to life with a visit to the town’s Tulip Tandoori restaurant when staff talked about Diwali and different aspects of life and culture in India.
Restaurant staff dressed in traditional Indian clothing, decorated the restaurant and played Indian music.
And there was a big treat to be enjoyed as a meal of poppadoms, chicken korma, naan bread and rice was laid on free of charge for the four to five-year-old pupils.
Reception teacher Amy Cooke said: “The children and staff really enjoyed their Tulip Tandoori experience.
“We came away with full tummies and a better understanding of the Indian culture.
“It was very kind of the restaurant to provide us with such a great experience for no cost.”
