Readers caught up in yesterday’s storms have been sending in their pictures.

One driver was on the A17 at Holbeach when she had to pull up because hailstones and torrential rain cut her visibility.

She took pictures from her parked car of the A17 and a side road where there was flash flooding.

Readers Alison and Graham Richardson, of Washway Road, Holbeach, told us they hadn’t seen hailstones like it before and thought their windows were going to break.

They said: “Washway Road was like a river. The plants in the garden were shredded and flattened. The hailstones were still on the grass when we went to bed at 11pm.”

Earlier in the day South Holland had been bathed in sunshine.

At McDonald’s in Spalding the restaurant had sun on one side and a downpour on the other, including a short burst of hail. At one point there were three rainbows at the same time.
