A charity football match and raffle in Long Sutton raised £400 at the weekend.

The teams playing in the match at the London Road Ground were Long Sutton Past, the Old Boys, and the under 21s team, Long Sutton Future.

The money raised at the event will be donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The match got off to a hopeful start for the Long Sutton Old Boys who were first to score, but the final score was 3-1 to the under 21s team.

The ages of the players in the Old Boys team ranged from 38 to 52, and some hadn’t played football for over 20 years.

Organiser, Jeremy King, who played as part of the Long Sutton Past team, said: “The day went very well and it was great that us Old Boys didn’t disgrace ourselves too much.

“The weather cleared up about an hour before kick-off, so we were well chuffed with that!

“We were really well supported and would like to thank everyone who came along to support us and those who donated to our charity.”

Following the match, spectators and players watched the all-Madrid Champions League Final at the Parkside Clubhouse.
