Raising the flag for veterans

TRIBUTES were paid to Britain’s armed forces by South Holland District councillors, staff and service veterans when South Holland District Council chairman Coun Michael Seymour led a flag-raising ceremony at the council offices in Spalding to mark Armed Forces Day.

Among those in attendance was the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire, David Baker, the Royal Naval Association, Parachute Regimental Association, Royal British Legion Spalding Branch and RAF Association.

Coun Seymour said “It is a privilege to raise this flag – not just for the servicemen and women of both the first and second world wars but for all the families and servicemen and women who have served this country.”
