PARENTS, grandparents, uncles and aunties as well as older and younger siblings joined in the sports evening at Quadring Primary School.

Teacher Anneka Luffman said the 86 pupils plus many supporters enjoyed “glorious weather” as they competed in the usual races, including the toddlers’, mums’ and dads’ races and a special event for ex-pupils.

The school’s dance group opened the event with a performance of Chariots of Fire before children competed for medals for first, second and third places in races. The overall winning team was Tennyson, the Red Team.

Mrs Luffman explained the school picks a date for the sports evening, with a back-up date for later on in case of bad weather.

However, the evening went ahead with “lots of parental support” – and plenty of sunshine.
